Pisa and Lucca

Italian culture caught in action. It is common to see women link arms or hold hands as they go for a stroll. I love it!
Steve and Chase walking the wall. Lucca is encircled by a stone wall. They are on top looking down at the city.
Italians like to build things close together.
A carousel ride for the kids!
The bell tower in Lucca.
Heading back down the tower of Pisa...some of the spots were a tight squeeze.
One of the bells at the top of the tower.
You can see how the marble steps have been worn down over the years.
We made it! Ryan and I were a bit nervous, but not Courtney!
Courtney in Lucca. A city close to Pisa.

The family in Pisa. The duomo, cemetary, baptistry, and tower are all together.
Courtney and I feeling the "lean".
We thought the tower of Pisa was awesome. The marble was stark white and beautiful.
Courtney, Ryan, and I climbed to the top of the tower. I could notice the lean when starting out and then not so much at the top. It was an awesome climb!
The view from the top was great. It did make me a little nervous being that high with only a small fence around the top( you can see how insecure the iron is between you and the edge). You had to be 8 to climb the tower; safety reasons I'm sure.

Again, so cool! I didn't know you could actually climb up. What a fun adventure. Rebecca
